Hi guys, Im at the columbia university now!!! WAHOO.
the trip down on the train to heathrow went smoothly all was kool, then the tube was smooth until I got to terminal 3 where the stupid underground in/out gates closed on my bag haha was kinda funny, I just grabbed my bag lifted it over and quickly walked away.
Once At terminal 3 I met a polish girl called silvia who was off to pensilvania, that was good because i had someone to talk to, we walked around looking for a watch for me then had a meal, the wait for the gate wasnt to bad i got to watch a bit of teh switzerland v togo match, i think it ended 1:0.
Once at the gate ready to board the plane I met 2 other people a lad called andy and a girl called.... cant remember n/m, most of the time waiting was general chit chat about where you off to what your teaching etc...
Boarding the plane a few people to body checked, i wasnt one :) the plane was a virgin atlantic airbus A340. I boarded and sat down, hostess's going thorugh all their procedures blah blah, once that was over I was straight onto the console infront of me messing about, watching bits and bobs, playing games taking a few photos out the window etc... I ended up watching "lucky number slevin" for teh inflight movie, all in all i thaught it was a good film the plot is pretty awsome the only thing i didnt like was the fact it has josh hartnett as the actor (he cant act!!!) but bruce willis was cool! after the movie I was starving and luckly we got served food everyone complains about flight food but i was glad just to have something to eat, the worste thing was chicken risotto but their was water to wash it down with so thats all good :-). As you can tell im going into way to much detail its because I dont know if ill get this much time to blog again!.
the flight went really quick to be honest, I was sat next to this french guy and he was quiet so I talked to teh people behind called kevin (from the usa visited the uk and was flying home) and lauren who was doing ccusa in pensilvaina, ended up playing them at a trivia game for a while which was entertaining.
once off teh flight it was straight forward procedures, JFK is very big but much better organised than heathrow, went to the ccusa booth picked up my bus ticket and sat down waiting for teh others to arrive, ended up meeting someone called james who i traveled to columbia with on teh coach, seem to get along well with him and the ccusa staff at columbia have put me in a dorm with him over night, took an hour to get to columbia uni from JFK!!
once at columbia uni I got my t-shirt :-) and stuff and threw it in the room, the first thing I noticed was teh heat, Ny was 35oc in the day and even now as i type at 10 to 1 in the morning usa time its hot!!! so I got a shower and had a walk round the uni campus, its very posh (got some pictures to upload when i got time)
Anyway i gotta go now people, tomorrow i got an orientation at 7am and then i have to be at greyhound bus stop for 1:45 and i dont arrive at my camp till 8pm!!
