The Storm

Hey guys, their are a few things i missed out on my blog that i should tell you, I thaught id already posted them but I actually sent a letter with it all in.

On the friday that has just gone their was a massive storm that rolled in, the lake just turned a deep black and you could see teh rain moving across teh lake towards us, the emergency air horn sounded and all us councilers had to gather our kids in teh cabins, just as we got inside teh rain hit so hard, it was pouring through teh mosquito nets so i had to run around teh cabin outside and shut the wooden latches also had to do a BTCOD for another cabin, teh inside of teh cabin flooded and trees were swaying and falling down around us, later on the power went down and with it the water, once the storm cleared all activities were cancelled and all afternoon we were moving trees, branches, cleaning tennis courts and digging a irrigation system for teh water to run to the stream which runs down teh appalachian trail. It was very exiting and teh power didnt come back on till late that night, people had to go to the toilet in teh woods and we had to have a emergency meal lol hot dogs! milk had to be drank etc... as their was no water.

Other bits I have probably missed are the details on woodshop, I usually teach 6/8 kids they have been making projects like boxes, basketball hoop, a catapult allsorts really, teaching them teh basics and ticking them off on an achievement chart. I have just ordered some clock mechanisms which will be arriving for tehm to make clocks, atm they are all making key hangers. Sometimes it can be intense but when teaching seniors its more relaxing, the most difficult part is teaching jose (spanish) he barely speaks english so i have to learn bits of spanish like siera and serutzio which are woodshop tools. The kids who I have to look after in my cabin like this 20Q electronic game i braught and they hate timmy (counciler next door who plays barbie girl at 8am). Most of teh kids are up by then to do moosebears.

Sorry I havent uploaded pictures yet guys ,but if you go on www.moosilauke.com and then find the 2006 photo gallery you should find some pictures of me on their.

My Day Off

Hi guys, its thursday and its my day off :) so sweet!
Im in plymouth at the moment, just had a frappe (sweet milkshake thingy) at a diner, ok heres the latest update.
The other day I was teaching woodworking all day, its getting better because the kids have a structured lesson now with me, I got them all working on teh same project but personalizing it, the main ways most kids personalize stuff is in to either the boston red sox

or teh new york yankees, theirs also a few who like the metz!. yesterday whilst having a kick around I saw a kid with an arsenal shirt on hehe!

Martyn i introduced sunny happy valley to teh camp its so funny, the kids get all wound up when they dont understand it, but in return they got me back with a game called black magic, I also got bit by a huge fire ant! (that antiquarium i got needs some of these huge ants hehe).

Last night was kool in teh evening activities i was teaching street hockey, then played a bit of basketball (a game called survivor) and then went and played wiffle ball (like baseball) Its a sweet game im starting to like it more and more.
Yesterday was fairly tough because my cabin councilors were on their day off so I had to look after the kids on my own, got them to sleep by reading them goosebumps "say cheese and die" then went to the rec hall and ended up on a long conversation about school teachers and childrens tv programs (was really funny singing the theme tunes and explaining to others about wierd teachers like mr katchmarjic, mrs cole and others like mrs holbrooke, people from thorne grammer will remember).

Keep posting guys and "live free or die"

Happy 4th of July!

Hey guys, happy 4th of july (independance day) for all you people who dont know what its about.

Today has been wiked! I closed teh woodshop all day and got to teach soccer in the morning, that was sweet because it was so hot!
In the avo we had this like er... ceremony type thing where teh kids do events like pull the jeep rangler, the gauntlet (you dress up and kids pitch tennis balls at you) liberty statues (dressup and stand still like a statue, win prizes) get your trash off my lawn (beach volleyball court and 2 teams have to thrown stuff over the net and when teh whistle blows teh team with teh least trash wins) and finally chase teh redcoat ( a redcoat is a englishman) they all had to chase us and tackle us to teh ground then carry us to the lake, egg us and throw us in. The senior A's (oldest kids) suck so bad at tackling! but on the way back from teh lake i stubbed my foot on a tree root and got a sweet gash on the ball of my foot! After all this fun I had to get teh kids in my cabin showered and smart ready to meet teh girls from merriwood camp next door. We had a big outdoor BBQ and then later they set fireworks off but it was my night off and a few others :-) so about 10 of us went out for dinner and then walked down the road on to a sweet golf course laid back on the course and watched teh firework show!
I got loads to tell but its all noted down, If i havent already mentioned the other day a massive lorry got stuck up junior hill and had to be towed out haha that was fun to watch during dinner. The kids have just started to get a little annoying now like at dinner they do all these crazy chants the main one you will know is queen "we will rock you" also this kid from spain called jose maria he is wierd!

Keep posting guys its good to hear your comments, their so typically english lol
